EyePet the new wave in virtual gaming
This year's E3 the game was on display in 3D. In case you haven't been paying attention, EyePet is a sugary, adorable pet simulation featuring a monkey-like creature that you can interact with using the PlayStation Eye and Move controller. The difference between this and other pet sims is that your image is projected on the screen making it appear like you can touch and pet the little guy.
While the pet himself looks great in 3D, the contrast between him and the real people in the background is more pronounced in this mode, which actually makes the game a bit less immersive.
I didn't see much different gameplay from what I've seen before, though I did get the chance to customize my pet this time. Besides simply changing the color of his fur, you can also change the length and texture. You can even give the little guy dreadlocks if you want.
Beyond that, I gave him a bath, played with some bubbles and taught him how to draw a plane, which subsequently came to life, allowing him to fly around and pop some balloons.
The Sony rep said the game will give you a series of activities to complete on a daily basis, and that there will be level progression. He also said if you're away from your pet too long, he will get very dirty, requiring you to give him a bath immediately.
The Move element seemed to be more responsive than it was in the demo I saw at GDC, as the multiple items that the controller transforms into were much easier to manage and function the way I wanted them to function.
Overall the game seems to be coming along nicely, but unfortunately, the 3D element detracts more from the experience than it adds.

Sony Playstation 3 Move
The Sony PlayStation Move is a set of two controllers that give you motion control gaming above and beyond what the console's current Sixaxis controller offers you and the chance to get into the game as if you were really there.
It's a stick that you wave around in front of your console, the game reacts to your movements and then relays that positioning information on screen meaning you've just swung a golf club or pointed your gun at someone. That's the basic reality of it. In actual fact it's a lot more advanced than that, and is all the better for it.
This second controller is like the Wii Nunchuk and offers you the ability to control your character's movements in-game with an analogue stick you control via your thumb. If you've played on the Wii the whole process for moving around is second nature with the navigation controller operating like a dumb partner to the more intelligent Move controller.
Controllers and how they work are one thing, but what about the games? So far Sony has announced 16 dedicated titles for PlayStation Move available on the day of launch and 40 more slated to hit throughout the holiday season before the year is out, servicing both casual and hardcore gamers alike.
Some titles already are: Sorcery, SingStar Dance, Heroes on the Move, SOCOM 4, Heavy Rain Move Edition, echochrome ii, EyePet, Sports Champions, Tumble, Beat, Time Crisis: Razing Storm, Toy Story 3 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11.
